YOUR VILLAGE NEEDS YOU!

Findon Parish Council (FPC) currently has four vacancies that it wants to fill by co-option to the Council and there will be Notice of Vacancy and Expressions of Interest forms published shortly in the Notice Boards and on both this website and Community web site (https://www.findonvillage.org/ ). The following examples will give you a flavour of the variety of activities undertaken by FPC.

OUTCOME FOR FINDON VILLAGE

Extensive remedial works project undertaken on the Wattle House (Phase 1).

Enabled continued use for the Sheep Fair storage etc prior to future village consultation for Phase 2 usage of the Wattle House.

Successfully obtained funding from West Sussex County Council (WSCC) in 2014 for a greens mower in conjunction with the negotiated devolvement of verge cutting from WSCC.

Village verges cut as and when needed ‘in house’, Nepcote and Pond Greens maintained with appropriate greens mower. A newer greens mower has recently been purchased with a three-year payback.

Transfer of ownership of Pond Green from Arun District Council (ADC).

Pond Green now owned by Findon Parish Council (FPC) for the village with a management plan to be developed including a potential interpretation and tourism ‘bothy’.

Creation of a brand new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) compliant web site in 2018 with refreshed ‘look and feel’ design.

Confidence that FPC is up to date with current statutory regulations and governance requirements. Enabling future resident engagement on the 3 Year Strategic Plan Consultation.

Involvement with the suspension of bus stops along the A24 affecting Findon residents.

Parish Councillors actively supported affected residents, helping deliver and collect surveys and liaising with relevant authorities.

YOUR COMMITMENT AS A PARISH COUNCILLOR:

  • Minimum of 15 evening meetings per year;

  • Fully prepare for meetings by reading supporting documentation;

  • Take an active role in meetings; and

  • Keep up to date and comply with current legislation

    OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU:

  • Full training opportunities will be available to you via the Sussex Assoc of Local Councils (SALC), South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA), WSCC and ADC programmes;

  • A ‘training buddy’ councillor will be allocated to you; and

  • Minimal Committee membership in your first year of office
