Incursion on to North on Green - Latest position 28 June 2024

A letter has been emailed to the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner, Katy Bourne, regarding lack of police action and this is attached for information. Please  ring 101 to report a incident or 999 if you see a crime being committed quoting the incident ref

The Clerk has received the following update from Inspector Ross Wickings, Sussex Police, this afternoon  

‘I have today reviewed the use of police powers following an update from PS Danny West. I recommended the use of police powers under S61 CJPOA based on what was reported to me. That has subsequently been reviewed by a Chief Inspector who has agreed for the use of those powers.

 

We will be looking to get the notices served this afternoon/evening. They will be directed to leave the site by 1100hrs on Saturday 29th June 2024. This is to allow them enough time to pack up and be moving at a reasonable time.’

 

24 June 2024 A Notice of Direction to leave with immediate effect was served earlier this morning by WSCC on our behalf. WSCC will be liaising with Sussex Police for enforcement.’


Update 21 June 2024
-  a further two vehicles arrived on Thursday evening, making a total of eight. FPC is being supported by West Sussex County Council (WSCC) by serving notice to leave etc on our behalf

Update 20 June 2024 – two more vehicles arrived yesterday and FPC reported this to Sussex Police and Arun District Council early evening of 19 June

Findon Parish Council is aware of the incursion onto the North Green area circa 7.00pm on 17 June 2024, and the damage caused to the fencing to gain access. This was reported to the police at 7.15pm last night by the Council and the incident number is 1271 should further reporting be necessary. This information will be updated here as and when appropriate.
