Arun District Council is creating a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) to improve safety and ease of movement in the district. This includes walking, cycling, and wheeling (wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs, or other non-motorised wheeled aids) and equestrian use, particularly in rural areas. In short, an LCWIP is a long-term plan that identifies where improvements are needed to support active travel and would be supported.
To make sure the LCWIP reflects local needs, the development process includes several stages of public and stakeholder engagement. We want to understand where walking, wheeling and cycling feels safe and convenient today, and where improvements are needed.
Consultation on the existing active travel network in Arun will run from Monday 26 January to Sunday 15 March 2026.
